How Healing Happens

You have had a long day.

Heck, you have had a long life!

You find yourself wishing, “If only I could get a Do-Over – I’d like to change so many things.”

But you can’t go back and change the past.

All you can do is try to focus on the future. No matter which way you go, you KNOW you’ve got to get started.

But where to begin?

That’s where counseling comes in. Counseling is about how to smooth out the rough spots in your life. To feel better. To think clearer.

I can tell you counseling is like moving the furniture around in your living room. You don’t always know what it will look like in the end; the important part is to begin.

And that healing comes in so many different ways. New furniture? New room? Or some serious re-arranging might be where the healing is.

It’s time for change – greater self-understanding – digging deeper.

Another idea for therapy involves “peeling the onion.” Once we experience the first layer of success, we discover another layer underneath!

Often, the problems we work together aren’t the same ones that first brought you to therapy.

Serendipity! These are happy accidents – because we couldn’t see them until we significantly resolved the first problem(s).

This is also related to understanding the depth of the problem. As you and I learn more of your issues, we better understand what it’s going to take to resolve them.

Finally – healing – in all its forms.

Perhaps, for you, healing may arrive through resolution.

But you may discover that the alliance between us offers you the most help. The relationship we forge is unique and becomes a powerful resource for insight and intelligence.

And there’s a bit of a mystery to it all, as well. We may not know how it all works, but we know that it DOES work! How’s that for a paradox?

Take that first step toward healing.

The most important thing to do is begin, and our relationship is a great place to start.
